Save time, money… and the planet

Opinion is divided over the whole range of green issues that are currently an obsession in so many sections of industry and the media. Even the most eco-sceptic enterprise, however, is likely to sit up and take notice where money is involved. A new report on conferencing within BT shows the cost savings that can be achieved, with beneficial environmental side-effects to boot.

The dwindling number of enterprises who refuse to accept the need for them to act in an environmentally responsible fashion may reject talk of climate change and carbon footprints, but they are unlikely to reject talk of cutting costs. So it may be the case with conferencing it’s money that talks, even if some users are oblivious to the fact that they are doing their bit for the environment.

New research into the economic, environmental and social impact of conferencing at telecom giant BT underlines the fact that adopting environmentally-friendly technologies and applications can result in significant cost benefits, too, It shows that conference calls eliminated more than 860,000 face-to-face meetings over the course of a year.
